My husband and I have just returned from an awesome tour of Western Canada, the Yukon and Alaska. We went with some trepidation since it was our 1st Coach tour and our 1st cruise. We were celebrating our 41st anniversary and wanted it to be special. We were not disappointed!
We started our tour in Edmonton and saw the great Canola fields of Alberta, Mile One of the Alaska Highway, and the Sign Post Forest of Watson Lake. The scenery and wildlife along the way were wonderful.
We panned for gold and looked down on Dawson City from the "Dome".We really enjoyed our 2 days there. The Top of the World Highway and the visit to Chicken Alaska were definitely highlights. A 2 night stay in Denali Park allowed us to see a grizzly bear and other wildlife. We also had snow in July there!
A few more days of wonderful Motor Coach Touring and it was time to say good-bye to our driver. We can not say enough about our driver Bill Palmer. He was extremely professional but so friendly. He showed us so many extras that were not on our itinerary and always made us laugh. We were sad to say good-bye.
We boarded the Holland America ms Volendam and cruised for 7 days in the Inside Passage. A highlight being in Glacier Bay on our Anniversary day, watching the calving of Margery Glacier. There were also interesting stops in Haines, Juneau and Ketchikan. The White Pass & Yukon Railway Tour is a must. Last stop Vancouver and home.
Carol Hughes was our Tour Director and from the beginning until the end she was superb. Always smiling always being organized and professional. She cared for 44 people from all walks of life and made us a family. She looked after every detail from sites, rooms, food, boarding and disembarking. We did not need to worry about anything - Carol and Bill had everything under control. They made it fun, stress free and informative.
This may have been our 1st tour but it will not be our last DeNure Tour. When people ask about our trip we always say "It was wonderful and we can not say enough about DeNure Tours!"
