DOWN THE RABBIT-HOLE

DeNure Tours has a new logo!

For over 50 years, DeNure Tours has offered mature travellers the chance to follow their dreams and discover new destinations to explore. But it’s not just the destinations that have changed over the years. DeNure Tours is now pleased to offer traditional coach tours along with tours that begin with a flight, involve an ocean cruise, or even travel through Europe’s most famous waterways. But despite the mode of transportation, one thing has remained constant, our desire to offer high quality tours at a reasonable price.

Our new mascot, a white rabbit, reminded us of a character from Alice in Wonderland. Just as Alice followed a white rabbit and found exciting adventures, so too can DeNure Tours help you turn your travel dreams into reality.

DeNure Tours determines pickup points based on the destination and routing for each tour. Regardless of the routing, there are certain pickup points that are always used, such as: The Sheraton Toronto Airport Hotel, the North York City Centre as well as in Whitby, Bowmanville, Peterborough and Lindsay. In 2011 we have added Barrie, Cookstown, Orillia,Kingston, Napanee, Belleville, Trenton, Cobourg and Port Hope to that list.

Tours travelling west have pickup points in London, Woodstock, Cambridge and Milton. Not all pick up points are used for every tour. Depending on the destination, some tours have pick up points west of Toronto along Highway 401 while others pick up in communities along the QEW. The table below outlines the routings used for particular tours. Please see the tour description to determine which routing.

Shuttle / Taxi Service to the Pick-up Point
DeNure Tours has purchased new vehicles to provide a better transfer service for passengers to get to our pickup points from Barrie and Orillia, and from as far east as Kingston. As an introduction, there will be no charge for this service for passengers on motorcoach tours.

DeNure Tours will make the arrangements for round trip taxi service to meet the coach, shuttle or flight. Depending on your location and the distance to the pick up point, there may be an additional charge for this service. Shuttle service can only be guaranteed if your reservation is made more than 45 days before departure.

Begin your tour rested and refreshed
DeNure Tours has negotiated special rates for DeNure clients at both the Sheraton Toronto Airport Hotel (conveniently located 1.5km from the airport with complimentary shuttle service and parking for guests) as well as the Lindsay Inn, located in Lindsay, Ontario. For early morning departures, you may wish to arrange an overnight stay prior to your tour. This can be arranged at the time of booking.

Get on Board Reward Program
Every time you travel with DeNure Tours you automatically earn Denuros. Denuros accumulate as 5% of your trip price or 1 Denuro for every $20. For example, on a trip that costs $600, you would earn 30 Denuros. Denuros are also earned by referring your friends to DeNure Tours. For every referred friend who travels, you are awarded 50 additional Denuros. Denuros are earned individually and are not transferable. Denuros may be redeemed for DeNure Tours travel merchandise, for free travel, or for travel discounts in certain circumstances. To qualify to redeem credits, you must have completed two multi-day DeNure Tours trips since January 1999 and you must have accumulated enough credits to cover the entire value of the tour. For your current Denuros balance, or for more information on the Get on Board program, please contact DeNure Tours.

The Motor Coach
DeNure Tours’ motor coaches have been modified for touring and include extra features such as increased legroom, carpeted floors, and an individually controlled stereo system. Five video screens have been mounted for your viewing enjoyment, with audio available through your individually controlled headset. The coach is climate-controlled for your comfort. Most tours in this catalogue will be operated with a DeNure Tours’ Prevost coach, but it is possible that leased coaches will be used for tours in some parts of North America and in Britain and Europe. Also, please note that smoking, food and beverages are not permitted aboard DeNure Tours’ coaches.

Seating on the coach
All seating is subject to availability and is assigned on a first come, first served basis. For sightseeing tours, a seat will be assigned for you to take upon initial boarding. During the course of the tour, you will be asked to change seats in a rotation system to offer each passenger different seating positions on the coach. For express departures, seats are assigned for the duration of the southbound and northbound portions of your trip. Please check your documents carefully.

Itineraries
It is our intention to operate all tours as described in the itineraries. Local operational situations occasionally force changes to be made and we reserve the right to do so.

Luggage Allowances
Luggage allowances are different for Express departures and Sightseeing Tours.

Express departures to Daytona Beach, Myrtle Beach, St. Petes Beach or Destin
The allowance is two large suitcases and one carry-on handbag. Should you wish to bring golf clubs, this will be considered 1 large suitcase. Your suitcases will be locked under the coach until arrival at the destination and you carry your handbag onto the coach for storage in the overhead bins.

Sightseeing Tours such as California, New Orleans, etc.
The allowance is one large piece of luggage and one small handbag. Your large luggage will be stored beneath the coach and delivered to your room each night at no additional charge. Your small handbag is your own responsibility, and may be stored beneath the coach or kept at your seat. Luggage tags will be provided for identification by hotels.

Luggage Dimensions, Weights and Handling
The optimal size for your large suitcase is 28 inches, which typically measures 28” high, 20”wide and 10” deep. Most importantly, your suitcase must not exceed 50 lbs. Your carry-on bag should fit in the overhead storage bins on the coach. The maximum dimensions are 16” x 12” x 8”. While the DeNure staff use care when handling your luggage, you must ensure that your luggage is in a condition sufficient to withstand the normal loading, unloading and delivery process.

If your luggage is too heavy
Heavy luggage has been known to cause harm to the individuals who handle luggage, and DeNure Tours’ employees are not required to handle luggage that weighs more than 50 lbs. If your luggage weighs more than 50 lbs, you will be asked to divide it into additional carrying cases for which there will be additional handling charges.

Membership
We regret that we cannot provide individual assistance to a tour member for walking, dining, getting on or off the motor coach, or other personal needs. If you require special assistance that cannot be provided by a person accompanying you on one of our tours, we may be unable to accept you as a member. Please advise us at the time of booking of any special needs you may have. If you are traveling with mobility aids (wheelchair, scooter, cane(s), guide dog) please also advise us at the time of booking. In the event we are unable to accommodate you and maintain safe operating conditions, we will ensure your return to the point of embarkation.

Identification
Identification
Different countries require different citizenship documentation and it is your responsibility to obtain the proper documentation. Inadequate identification may result in you being denied entry to the destination country. If this happens, you will be responsible for your own transportation home.

A valid passport is required for all travel outside of Canada. DeNure Tours’ office staff will do their best to appropriately advise passengers of their travel document requirements, but DeNure Tours will not be responsible for passengers denied access to other destinations, or for re-entry into Canada. To facilitate border crossing, please keep your identification with you and not in stowed luggage.

THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION PERTAINS TO CANADIAN RESIDENTS TRAVELLING ON NON-CANADIAN PASSPORTS TO THE UNITED STATES:
DeNure Tours strongly recommends that passengers who were born in Canada use their Canadian Passport.

Canadian residents holding non-Canadian passports, and travelling to the United States, need to meet certain entry requirements. Upon entry into the US by land, non-Canadian residents of Canada must fill out Form I-94, and pay $6 U.S. per person. Upon return to Canada, the form must be presented to the customs office as proof that the visitor has left the US. Residents of Canada travelling on other passports, will also need to present a Permanent Resident Card for re-entry into Canada.

Canadian residents flying into the US with a non-Canadian passport must complete an electronic visa waiver, called ESTA – Electronic System for Travel Authorization. Those that travel by air under passports from participating countries are required to pre-register prior to arrival into the US via an online application. Our office may be able to assist with this pre-registration.

For more information or an updated list, please contact our office.

If your passport is from a country that does not participate in the U.S. ESTA program, and you wish to travel into the United States, you will require a passport from your country of origin, landed immigrant papers, and possibly a Visa. Travellers should check with the U.S. Consulate if in doubt. For travel anywhere other than the U.S., you will require a passport from your country of origin.

Further information on the visa application process can be obtained at www.usconsulatetoronto.ca or by calling 1-900-451-2778, at a cost of $2 per minute.

Gratuities
Tips to waiters, taxi drivers, step-on guides, tour directors and drivers are a tangible way for you to express your appreciation for jobs well done. This practice, though customary, is voluntary and individualistic, and is not included in tour prices. The following amounts are suggested:

Waiters
Between 15-20% of your bill, but never less than $1

Tour Directors and Drivers
Between $2 and $4 per person per day

Rescheduling of a Tour
In the event a tour must be rescheduled, DeNure Tours shall have no responsibility beyond the refund of all fares paid by the passenger to DeNure Tours.

Payment
Once you have made a booking, we will ask for payment in advance of travel. Generally speaking, payment is requested in two steps, first a deposit and then a final payment. The deposit holds your reservation and is requested within 7 days of booking. For coach tours and express tours, the required deposit is $150 per person. For tours involving flights, a deposit of up to $500 per person is required. For tours involving a cruise holiday and European tours, a deposit of $700 per person for Holland America cruise, $500 per person for European Motorcoach Tours, $1000 per person for Uniworld European River Cruises is required to secure your cabin on the ship. DeNure Tours will not reserve space until a deposit is received.

Final balance due dates vary by tour. For motor coach tours in North America, your final balance is due 45 days prior to your departure date. Tours involving flights within Canada and the U.S. must be paid in full 60 days prior to the departure date, while tours involving overseas flights must be paid in full 80 days prior to departure. Tours involving a cruise must be paid in full 90 days prior to the departure date.

Payments can be made by Visa, MasterCard, cheque or money order.

Please note that we reserve the right to cancel your reservation if payments are not received as requested and to withhold any payments already made based upon the cancellation penalty schedule outlined below.

Cancellation Charges
These charges are the amounts DeNure Tours will withhold should you need to cancel. The amount of the charge, described below, is dependent upon the date you notify DeNure Tours of the cancellation in relation to your departure date. If you must cancel, please notify DeNure Tours as soon as possible to minimize cancellation penalties.

Cancellation charges are derived from a combination of costs and liabilities arising from your booking commitment and DeNure Tours’ assessment of the potential to re-sell yours seat in the case of cancellation. These charges are non-refundable even if your seat is re-sold by DeNure Tours. Travel insurance is intended to compensate you for these charges should a medical emergency result in cancellation. By purchasing cancellation insurance, you are protecting yourself from these possible losses. Please note that your insurance charges are non-refundable.

DeNure Tours recommends that you read your insurance documents carefully and call if you have any questions.
